TENTH ANNUAL DAY AT PETERSEN FARM
The City of McHenry Landmark Commission
hosted another successful “A Day at Petersen Farm.” More than 2,200 people attended this free
event highlighting on of the City’s gems-Historic Petersen Farm. Thank you to all participants, exhibitors,
volunteers and those who came to make this event a great family day. Special thanks to U-Haul for their $500
sponsorship of the Steam Tractor; Riverside Chocolate Factory for their $150
donation to the Colby-Petersen Farm Foundation and City of McHenry Landmark Commission
for all their hard work!
GRAND OPENING OF BEERABILITY
BeerAbility recently opened at 4117 W
Shamrock Lane in the Liberty Square subdivision. Their ribbon cutting was held on July 6 and
numerous people attended. BeerAbility
is a Gastropub, which offers food and a diverse selection of craft beer and
wine and adds another great business to Liberty Square Shopping Center, located
at the southwest corner of Shamrock Lane and Illinois Route 31.
The owner, Jason Newman, is very involved
in each of the communities he operates his business. The following is a link to an event, which

SPECIAL OLYMPICS PARTICIPANTS
AND CITY OF MCHENRY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO BE HONORED BY DUNKIN DONUTS
I was contacted recently by Naimesh Upadhyaya, Area Manager for
Dunkin Donuts who said Dunkin Donuts wanted to recognize one of their employees
who won a medal in this year’s Summer Special Olympics. He
also said they also wanted to recognize the City of McHenry Police Department
for all they do to promote and raise awareness and money for Special Olympics
including: Cop on Top; Torch Run, Polar
Plunge and on August 3 the McHenry Police Department will participate in the
Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby for Special Olympics. Please visit www.chicagoduckrace.com to learn more and donate to help Special

On Tuesday July 11, Dunkin Donuts
will honor local Summer Special Olympic Participants. This will occur on Tuesday July 11, 4502 W
Elm Street (Dunkin Donuts) in McHenry, at 3:30 p.m. Mayor Wayne Jett, representatives from Dunkin
Donuts, City of McHenry Police Department and staff will be present in addition
to representatives from McHenry High School District 156 and Pioneer Center. Anyone is welcome to attend. Below is a list of the Summer Special Olympic's
