MCHENRY KIWANIS CARIBBEAN COOKOUT AND PEOPLE IN NEED FORUM IN JANUARY…HAPPY 2017!!!

MCHENRY KIWANIS CARIBBEAN COOKOUT

Two great events are coming up this month which I wanted to bring to your attention.  McHenry Kiwanis is hosting their Caribbean Cookout on Friday January 27, 2017 commencing at 6:00 p.m. at the McHenry VFW, 3002 Illinois Route 120.  The admission is $30 and includes a Caribbean Pork Dinner, Beer and Pop.  This is the largest fundraiser that Kiwanis hosts and money raised is used to support kids in the community in the form of high school scholarships, GiGi’s Playhouse, Main Stay, Big Brothers Big Sisters and others.  Additional information can be found by contacting Dan Mitchell at dmitchell@thestatebankgroup.com or visiting www.mchenrykiwanis.org.

Star 105.5 morning DJs Joe and Tina will be present.  There will be multiple raffles for various prizes.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.  I recently joined McHenry Kiwanis and also will be attending this event.  I believe community involvement is very important and personally I felt I was not doing enough. In the short time I’ve been involved with McHenry Kiwanis I’ve enjoyed it immensely and look forward to volunteering and meeting people at these types of events.

PEOPLE IN NEED FORUM

Another wonderful event is the People in Need Forum which will take place on Saturday January 28, 2017 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the McHenry County College Luecht Conference Center, 8900 US Highway 14 in Crystal Lake.  The event is free and includes numerous agencies and organizations which provide various forms of assistance throughout McHenry County.

The following video provides a good snapshot of the event:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T810HUw60sU and the website for the event is http://www.mchenry.edu/peopleinneed/.

You can also access a PDF on the website which includes information about the different organizations, contact information and services they provide.  This is a wonderful event and really highlights all McHenry County has to offer and all the organizations which provide assistance to those in need.
