COMING SOON: BEERABILITY, DOMINO’S PIZZA, ADDISON’S STEAKHOUSE, THREE QUEENS AND LACEY’S PLACE….MARINE CORPS CAREER CENTER AND PET CENTRAL RELOCATE WITHIN CITY OF MCHENRY!!!

BEERABILITY

Targeting a March 2017 opening, with existing locations in Round Lake Heights, http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20151211/submitted/151219733/, North Chicago and growing, BeerAbility http://www.beerabilitybar.com/ will be another great addition to the City of McHenry.

BeerAbility is a Gastropub which will offer food and a diverse selection of craft beer and wine and add another great business to Liberty Square Shopping Center, located at the southwest corner of Shamrock Lane and Illinois Route 31. BeerAbility is completing their buildout at 4117 W Shamrock Lane and owner Jason Newman is looking forward to becoming part of the City of McHenry and being an active member of our community.

The owner is very involved in each of the communities he operates his business. The following is a link to an event which was held in North Chicago. Chicago Tribune, From the community: North Chicago Chamber of Commerce Tees Off on a Successful 2016.

The Round Lake Chamber of Commerce praised BeerAbility Owner Jason Newman for his involvement in community events. Additionally, BeerAbility sponsored a Welcome Home Event for Veterans in North Chicago. We look forward to a long relationship with BeerAbility.

DOMINO’S PIZZA

Domino’s Pizza is completing their buildout at 2208 N Richmond Road, immediately south of Vision Works, which recently opened in the McHenry Towne Center Shopping Center (Kohl’s; Petco, Hallmark). Domino’s has been absent from the City of McHenry for quite some time and formerly located on Front Street in the ReMax Plaza Shopping Center.

However like every other successful retailer Domino’s has made adjustments to their brand and the new location on North Richmond Road will be a great addition to the many outstanding businesses which call the City of McHenry home!!

ADDISON’S STEAKHOUSE

Addison’s Steakhouse is coming soon to the Fountain Shoppes Retail Center, 335 N Front Street. In addition to a great restaurant, outdoor seating will be available around the fountain which will be a wonderful outdoor dining experience https://www.facebook.com/ADDISONSSTEAKHOUSE/!!!

THREE QUEENS

A new tavern, Three Queens, is currently under construction and will be opening soon at Southgate Retail Center, 810 N Front Street Unit C. The proprietor of Three Queens also operates the Food Mart, as well as liquor stores at Bull Valley/Charles Miller Road and Illinois Route 31 and a location in the McHenry Plaza Shopping Center. The store located in McHenry Plaza is part of the southern inline retail space.

This will be another great addition to the City of McHenry business community and a great example of an existing business owner reinvesting in our community! Thank you!

LACEY’S PLACE

Lacey’s Place, 3515 Diamond Drive, is completing the buildout for their business which will be located in the Diamond Plaza Shopping Center. This was formerly the location of the Marine Corps Career Center, which found a new home very close by at 2620 Schaid Court (neighbor of Epic Deli)!

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS CAREER CENTER

The United States Marine Corps Career Center recently relocated a few hundred feet from 3515 Diamond Drive to their new location at 2620 Schaid Court. We are very happy we could accommodate a new business - Lacey’s Place - and retain the Marine Corps Career Center!

PET CENTRAL RELOCATES FROM ELM STREET TO GREEN STREET

Pet Central has relocated from 3743 W Elm Street to 1259 N Green Street http://www.mchenrypetcentral.com/. We are very happy Pet Central chose to remain in the City of McHenry and wish them great success in the heart of downtown McHenry.

Pet Central has been a staple in our City for numerous years, and I am sure they will do great at their new location. Thank you for remaining in the City of McHenry!!

QUARTERBACK FOR HUNGER AT MCHENRY WEST CAMPUS

McHenry High School West Campus is hosting an event: “Quarterback for Hunger” on Friday January 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to raise money and awareness of Food For Thought (see flyer below).

“Looking for an entertaining night for the whole family? Then look no further than “Quarterback for Hunger” on Friday! West Campus will be open and hosting a variety of fun events for people of all ages. Highlights include: Dodgeball tournament, bags tournament, open basketball gym, Zumba, open pool, silent auction, and pie the teacher! The fun starts at 5pm and runs until 8. Entry is $7 in advance or $9 at the door.”

MCHENRY AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

On January 28, the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual dinner dance: “PARIS, CITY OF LIGHTS” at D’Andrea Banquets & Conference Center, 4419 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake. CARIBBEAN COOKOUT

McHenry Kiwanis is hosting their Caribbean Cookout on Friday January 27 commencing at 6:00 p.m. at the McHenry VFW, 3002 Illinois Route 120. This is the largest fundraiser that Kiwanis hosts and money raised is used to support kids in the community in the form of high school scholarships, GiGi’s Playhouse, Main Stay, Big Brothers Big Sisters and others. PEOPLE IN NEED FORUM

The People in Need Forum is Saturday January 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the McHenry County College Luecht Conference Center, 8900 US Highway 14 in Crystal Lake http://www.nwherald.com/sponsored/articles/2017/01/20/15861837/index.xml.

ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PUBLIC HEARING

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be holding a public hearing/open house on proposed roadway improvements to Illinois Route 31, from Route 176 to Route 120 (see flyer below). This is an opportunity to provide comments and feedback to IDOT officials. Route 31 is an extremely valuable commercial corridor and appropriate long-term planning for this corridor is critical to the economic viability of our community.

The public hearing is February 8, 2017, 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. at McHenry County College Shah Center, 4100 W Shamrock Lane in McHenry. More information can be found at www.idot.illinois.gov/projects/il31 or feel free to contact me for assistance and I’ll be happy to help!

SECOND ANNUAL MANUFACTURING, TRADE AND INDUSTRY EXPO

The date has been set for the Second Annual Manufacturing Trade and Industry (MTI) Expo (see flyer below). The event will take place on Wednesday September 27, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at McHenry East Campus High School, 1012 N Green Street. Last year more than 40 manufacturers and trade organizations throughout McHenry County, as well as representatives from McHenry County College, McHenry High School and others attended this collaborative event. The expo is sponsored by McHenry Community High School 156, City of McHenry, McHenry County College, McHenry County Workforce Network, McHenry County Economic Development Corporation and the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce.

This is a great opportunity for students and parents to interact with manufacturers, trade groups and representatives from these other organizations to learn about internship as well as future job opportunities. They can also learn about all the wonderful and exciting things companies within McHenry County do. The event is free and Rotary Club of McHenry Sunrise will have a drawing for senior students for a $500 post-secondary tech scholarship.
